Brittany N. Meeker concentrates her practice in Civil Litigation, insurance law, agricultural law, property law, real estate law, and collections.
Ms. Meeker began working for The Law Group in 2023, after practicing for almost 9 years at a firm in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was sworn in as a licensed attorney to practice law in Illinois on November 6, 2014. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Effingham County Bar Association, Fayette County Bar Association, and the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel.
Ms. Meeker grew up in Marshall, Illinois, and attended Indiana State University, where she graduated in 2011, cum laude(with honors) with a B.S. in Legal Studies and Civic Leadership. She then received her Juris Doctorate degree in 2014 from Southern Illinois University School of Law. During law school, Ms. Meeker served on the Moot Court board and participated in three national competitions, earning Second Place overall and First Place Brief in the 2013 Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition. Ms. Meeker also served as the co-president of the law school’s Sports Law Society. In her last year of law school, Ms. Meeker was awarded the Order of the Barristers, a recognition of excellence in the art of courtroom advocacy.
Since graduating, Ms. Meeker has gained admission to the United States District Court for the Southern District. Ms. Meeker served on the Jefferson County Board of Directors for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) from 2015-2020, serving as Board President in her final year.
Ms. Meeker has contributed to several legal bodies of work, authoring two chapters for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education (IICLE), including: “Jurisdiction of Courts Other than District Court, Supplement;” and “Commercial Liability/Occurrence Issues”. She co-authored the IICLE Chapter “Settlements (2020).” Ms. Meeker has also been published multiple times in the Illinois State Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Newsletter, including ““Procedural Fumble Allows for Punt on Important Issue” (2022); “The Interplay of Simultaneous Awards of PTD and Wage Differential Benefits” (2016); “Employers Maintain Their Right to Waive Lien Subsequent to Adverse Judgment” (2016); and “Constructive Selection Doctrine Used to Overcome the Two-Physician Rule” (2015).
Ms. Meeker has been recognized as an Emerging Lawyer through the Leading Lawyers Network in the fields of general personal injury defense and workers’ compensation defense, 2017-present. Ms. Meeker was recommended as an Emerging Lawyer in a statewide survey. The Emerging Lawyers are recognized as “the top 2% of lawyers in Illinois who are age 40 or younger or have been admitted to the practice of law for 10 or fewer years.” Ms. Meeker currently resides in Effingham, Illinois.
