Joel A. Slater
Joel A. Slater administers trusts and estates for The Law Group. He also practices in the related fields of estate planning and probate, as well as the areas of transactional law and mineral law (oil and gas).
Mr. Slater began working with The Law Group in August of 2013. He was sworn in as an attorney licensed to practice law in Illinois on October 31, 2013. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and Effingham County Bar Association.
Joel A. Slater was born May 26, 1988 in Fairfield, Illinois to Joseph and Marietta Slater. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee in May of 2010, graduating from the Honors College and having completed an undergraduate thesis. At Freed-Hardeman, Joel was President of the school’s chapter of the Alpha Chi and Sigma Tau Delta Honors Societies, and was published in the Sigma Tau Delta Review (Vol. 6, 2009), an annual journal that publishes critical essays on literature.
Joel went on to attend Vanderbilt University Law School in Nashville, Tennessee, where he qualified for the Dean’s list and was Managing Editor of the Journal of Entertainment and Technology Law. Joel received his Juris Doctorate degree from Vanderbilt in May of 2013, also receiving the Certificate of Law and Business upon graduation.
Mr. Slater resides with his wife, Leigh Ann, in Altamont.
